Today we’d like to share a little story...

The avalanche of new TLDs awakened renewed.vision. TLD.domains held the power to tell a story, the power to be.sexy! With internet.marketing built into every name, he saw potential that invigorated his inner.ninja! Dance.academy, summer.camp, online.education, Christmas.gift....Maybe he wouldn’t have to sellthe.farm. Maybe he could simply sell.domains. But where?

X.VENTURES sells for $1,000

In yesterday’s Weekly Brokerage Listings post, Aaron Strong tested the waters to see if he could make a quick flip on X.Ventures, and he offered the domain name for sale for $1,000. As you can see in a subsequent comment, Aaron announced that this domain name was sold. I am not sure if the transaction has been completed or not, but that was a nice flip for him.

For the past year and a half, the details of this monumental change in the Internet name space became increasingly available; while the road that led to the creation of a “white paper” on gTLDs has been rocky, the end result is simple:gTLDs are here, and they are here to stay.

I purchased three single letter new gTLD domain names: n.Ventures, n.Holdings, and g.Holdings

For me, these purchases were purely speculative. Unlike my .com domain names, I do not believe an aftermarket has been established, and I have no idea when (or if) there will be a strong aftermarket for these domain names. I think there is upside potential, but I can afford to take risks.

Why Rick Schwartz Believes Jumping on Board Early Could be Hazardous to Your Financial Health

"I expect a lot of noise in 2014. I expect all types of bogus press releases and other nonsense. I expect staged sales to try and create frenzies. I expect a lot of pain for some when those renewals come due in 1 year. I expect a lot of failures. Each one that fails makes the job of the next one all that much harder and for folks not to understand the ramifications of that are likely to lose money. I expect things to unfold like I have looked at the last 18 years. I expect any success to be held up like a man just walked on the moon for the first time while minimizing all the headwinds of reality,' Schwartz said.

On February 28th we will be launching our new registrar at Uniregistry.com

"We have a team of 19 brokers here in Grand Cayman and we realize what our strengths are. Selling names is hard work. On average, our brokers spend 4 hours on each closed deal. Our average sale price is in the vicinity of $15,000 per sale. Effective February 15th we will need to charge minimum commissions of $175 per sale. If you have domain names that are very low priced (under $1500), you can continue to sell them yourself without charge, but if you require DNS to take phone calls, do manual work and hand-hold your low price deals to completion we will need to apply this minimum charge".

How the Dawn of New gTLDs Will Impact 2014

This year we have put together our biggest panel ever, 17 of the industry's best and brightest, and split them into two groups of eight each - one comprised of investors & developers and one of corporate leaders. We filled the extra spot with an attorney who has a foot firmly planted in multiple camps.
